Most pet stores sell you food. We help you choose it. At our shop on Bridgeton Pike, you can sit down with a Holistic Pet Food Expert — a trained pet-nutrition professional, not a salesperson — and walk out with a real plan for your dog or cat. No appointment needed, no pressure, and it's free.
Here's how it works. You tell us about your pet — breed, age, weight, what's in the bowl now, and what's going on (itchy skin, a sensitive stomach, a picky eater, a senior slowing down). We read the label you're feeding today, explain what's actually in it, and map out a few options that fit your pet and your budget. Ten minutes at the counter is often all it takes to get unstuck.
Why does this matter? Because "what should I feed my dog?" is the hardest question on the internet to answer well — every brand has a stake in the reply. A Holistic Pet Food Expert doesn't. We've vetted every brand on our shelves, so the conversation starts from your pet's needs, not a promotion. That's the whole idea behind feeding better: the right bowl, chosen for the right reasons, supports longer, happier lives.
You don't need a problem to come in. New puppy and not sure where to start? Switching foods and worried about the transition? Just want a second opinion on the bag you've been buying for years? That's exactly what the consult is for.
What to bring (and what to expect)
Bring a photo of your current food label — or the bag itself — and any notes from your vet if your pet has a diagnosed condition. We'll talk through diet first, then any supplements, chews, or enrichment that fit the picture. We're a nutrition center, not a clinic, so for anything medical we'll always point you back to your veterinarian — and we're glad to work alongside their guidance.
FAQ
Is the consult really free?
Yes. There's no charge and no obligation to buy anything. We earn your trust first; the rest follows.
Do I need an appointment?
No — walk-ins are welcome during store hours (Mon–Sat 9 AM–8 PM, Sun 11 AM–5 PM). A Holistic Pet Food Expert is on staff most days; if you want to be sure one is in before you drive over, call us at 856-494-4290 and we'll check the schedule.
What's a "Holistic Pet Food Expert"?
A staff member with formal training in companion-animal nutrition — someone who can read a pet-food label, explain it in plain English, and build a feeding plan around your individual pet rather than a sales target.
Can you help with a specific issue, like allergies or a senior pet?
Often, yes — through diet. We see a lot of skin-and-stomach sensitivities, weight management, picky eaters, puppies, and aging pets here in Gloucester County. For diagnosed medical conditions we'll coordinate with your vet, not replace them.
Will you just try to sell me the most expensive food?
No. We never compete on price or push the priciest bag. We recommend what fits your pet and your budget — sometimes that's a small tweak to what you're already feeding.
